Wise Up! School Awards 2020
St Gregory’s have been awarded the Platinum ‘Wise Up’ Anti Bullying Award for the third year running– the only Secondary School to do so!
Harry Harris (Y7), Hollie Mushet (Y8) and Izzy Gibbons (Y8) accepted the award from the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Wendy Johnson.
Pip Horne from Warrington Speak Up said on presenting the award: “Terrific work again from St Gregory’s who really took the message to the streets with a walk through the local community, rallying local primary schools and spreading the word. Very positive ethos that they celebrate and encourage so that the message is loud and clear. Consistently high standards every year from St Gregory’s with a whole school culture of inclusion and caring”.
Representatives from our Anti-Bullying Team, gave a flavour of the work undertaken to our Community Governors this month - they were very impressed and were presented with ‘Butterfly Effect’ cards to ensure our ‘positive footprint’ ambition reaches all of our community.

School awarded the Platinum for the second year running!
The award was given for our "terrific work out in the community, linking with primary schools and visitors to the school. Robust evidence showing the positive ethos that is embraced throughout the school and throughout the year".
At the Award Ceremony Pip Horne from Warrington Speak Up said:
"St Gregory’s are a stalwart of the Wise Up! School Awards having participated every year since it started. If you are delighted with your wonderful Gold and Silver awards but would like to know what to do to get the Platinum Award then St Gregory’s can show you by example. They are the reason that we recognised we needed to add the Platinum Award as their terrific work throughout the year, in the community and with their feeder schools make them a beacon of what we are looking for. A complete commitment to celebrating difference, challenging bullying and Hate Crime and supporting everyone to be a welcome part of their school community."

St Gregory's are thrilled to have received the new Platinum Awarf as part of our 'Wise-Up competition entry. Having achieved Gold for three consecutive years, school decided in Anti-Bullying Week to spread the message throughout our wider community, specifically in partnership with our local primary schools. The new award reflects the school's outstanding work which exceeded expectations.

Wise up! School Awards 2017
Pupils and staff attended the Warrington ‘Wise Up’ launch event on Wednesday 18th October at the Gateway.
The ‘Wise Up’ is an annual awards scheme that looks to recognise and celebrate the excellent work that Warrington schools are doing to tackle the issues of bullying and hate crime.
All the schools who enter demonstrate they understand the importance of creating a safe environment in their school, where children can be free of bullying, especially those who may have a disability, be from another ethnic background or religion, have a different sexual orientation (LGB) or are transgender or gender non-conforming.
Gold awards are presented to schools which demonstrate outstanding practice. St Gregory’s is the only school to have secured Gold for three consecutive years. This year we are aiming for the new Platinum award.
Pupil Reflections
Today we had the privilege of attending the 'Wise Up' Award launch event at the Gateway. Neil Drum, a police officer gave a talk followed by Dave from the Warrington Disabilities Partnership who gave an inspirational speech about his struggles with being in a wheelchair. He said "Life is what you can do not what you can't". Next we picked a song "boys that sing" by Viola Beach. We chose this song because the drummer, Jack Dakin, in the band used to attend our school. We hased the storyline in our song to be about the 'Wise Up' Award journey. We had a great morning and we can not wait for the award ceremony in February. Our application made us feel prepared to achieve the Platinum Award. Liberty Ratcliffe (8 More)
